![]() Set it and forget it is sometimes mentioned. Savant is for the home owner that is not interested in tinkering with a system. Your LV guy probably doesn't know much about these systems. I don't know if that is true, unless you have a router modem combo. The worst part is I cannot change simply change out my modem because somehow my Savant system is tied to an IP (as I was told by the low voltage guy Having a good relationship with your dealer/installer is really beneficial sometimes. I would suggest you find a few Savant Dealers in your area, and also get some references. However, what I have found generally enjoyable about installed dealer systems is the interface as well as the fact that if installed well, it works without hiccups. Your Savant equipment will most likely not work with any other system. However, their is a bit of a steep learning curve. Depending on how the lighting panels are wired, that may be one of your biggest expenses. If you have that time and money, Homeseer or Home Assistant can help you "piece" your new automation together. Unless you rip out everything, including centralized lighting panels, remote control modules, touchpanels, it will be very hard to make something that you yourself can program. Also any idea if there is a way to make this a user version so I can do things myself?Īlso any idea if there is a way to make this a user version so I can do things myself? ![]() I am hoping to hear some thoughts on this. ![]() Who knows how much this is going to cost me? But the problem is my Savant system will pretty much become useless unless I get a hold of the 'Professional Installer' to set up. Recently I am thinking of upgrading my modem by getting my current ISP to swap out the old one (or change ISP entirely). I do not know how much it will cost every time I want something done, but when I reached out to the 'Professional Installer', I get no response. If I want to add a new device, I need to contact the 'Professional Installer', if I want upgrade, I need to contact the 'professional installer', the worst part is I cannot change simply change out my modem because somehow my Savant system is tied to an IP (as I was told by the low voltage guy), if I disconnect or replace the modem, the whole system will have to be re-configured. I have been looking into what 'locked' means, and now I know 'locked' means as an end user, you don't have the ability to do anything with it other than "using" the system. It controls my lighting, security cameras, ceiling audios and security system. Hey all - I bought a house couple years ago that came with a 'locked' savant system.
